What are you procrastinating on?

Could be anything! Dishes, laundry, homework, walking your pet raccoon, etc.!

Personally, I've been procrastinating on updating my portfolio to send out to companies. I'm also procrastinating on this discussi....

I'm teaching myself programming. I should be practicing right now...

Oh man, I definitely feel ya on that one. Over the past 6 months I have been teaching myself Objective-C so I could develop for iOS. It's been very slow going to say the least, hah. However, over the past 2 months or so, I have come to realize my interests are more so in UI/UX. I'm still going to keep on with programming, just as a back-up/resource.

      Don't give up!

I'm trying. I've hit that wall where it just seems like I'll never be any better than I am now. And I'm not very good... I can write a "Guess the Number" script and a faux dice game in python. Took a break and started adding to what html I knew from school. And then started learning css. I think my interests are more in webdev, so I would like to focus on that with languages like javascript, ruby on rails, etc.

Coding is hard when you don't have anything to code. Figure out something that you want to make a reality - then motivation will find you.

I am facing the exact same problem. I get it when people tell me to figure out a problem to solve and then learn to program but I have no idea about the kind of problems I like to solve. I work on Excel most of the time and am quite adept in it and I have also dabbled in Macros a bit. I am now learning C but I am not able to figure out how to use C to solve problems that I face in Excel. Maybe I have a long way to go before I start doing that but I am afraid I will give up much before that. It's already a week since I took a break :(

Ain't that the truth. I learned some Java and come C in college for classes/research and loved coding. It was just a really enjoyable experience overall. I picked up some Python along the way as well for various things.

And then I just kind of stagnated, because my totally not related to programming job takes up like 50 hours a week and when I do have time that I could be coding I spend it all trying to dream up something to code, so I've just kind of slowly forgotten everything. I need to just buckle down and learn how to make a simple app or something I think, to at least get me back into it.

I was procrastinating on mowing my lawn, but I broke down and finally mowed it today. Tomorrow's job is spraying enough weed killer to make sure I don't have to mow again.

I have the opposite problem, I actually want to mow my lawn (got a sweet electric mower for father's day, the novelty has not yet worn off) but it keeps raining... which in turn makes the lawn grow even faster and increases the need to mow it.

      • sarcasimo
        +2

Allow me to propose a solution. Bring your fancy mower to my place, and you can use it to your hearts' content!

No joke, if you lived within an hour drive of me I would. But given that my entire region has been rained on for the past two weeks I don't think that's likely.

Studying is for those who didn't listen well in class.

    • shadow1515
      +1

If you have all your exams from that class and did well on them, honestly just at least look over each one and make sure you still remember how to do everything. It's easier to do because it doesn't take long so your brain will be like, "Yeah, we can do that!" and then you should at least do well on the final. For classes where I didn't care too much about my grade as long as it was at least a B, my midterm exams from that class were pretty much my only study material.

I needed to write a CV a few months ago. Still haven't done it,

Man, my CV is probably the highest-effort two pages of text I have ever written. I hate that thing so much. I procrastinate even opening the file to update a line or two.

Mind sharing? Wouldn't mind giving it a read. You'd be aiding my procrastination of drawing but...guess that fits in with the theme around here, heh.

here it is. I only have one page done lol sorry. I have a pretty clear idea of what im gonna write but just haven't seen to doing it. Thanks for the interest! Any critique is welcomed.

Well with only one page completed I can't give much critique lol. I made an account though and subscribed to your comic. Hope that gives you some motivation and hope that sometime in the future you can judge some of my work.

It's mostly a slice of life sort of thing about an edgy teenager and his not so edgy friends. I've never really embarked on that sort of thing before but I just kind of wanted to embrace that idea.

That sounds interesting considering I can relate a lot to that. I am not trying to lie to myself, i am kind of a dark and anti-social person in a friends group of energized, social people with not so twisted thoughts. You could be going for a different kind of "edgy" but it's similar.

You've pretty much described what I was thinking of doing actually, although I do think that it might evolve into something more romantic down the line.

      • FivesandSevens
        +1

No kidding. My original procrastination was to avoid writing by researching like crazy. Now that it's really past time to start writing, I have so much material (and seriously deficient notes/organization) that I've completely intimidated and psyched myself out. It's a war zone in my head right now.

Well I'm moving from New York to California in 19 days and I still have to: Quit my job, tell my landlord i'm breaking the lease, save up for the trip from NY to CA, say goodbye to all my friends, pack up all my stuff and leave!

Right now I'm procrastinating on pretty much everything in life, work has been eating up my time. 12 hour days 6 days a week really sucks when you are trying to get other things done, I never have the motivation to get up and do anything. Hopefully these hours will end soon though.

I've been trying to finish my first children's book for the last 3 years. It's all written, even published as an eBook, but now I'm illustrating and with only a couple chapters left I'm really procrastinating. I'm blaming feeling artist's block... But come on... Just finish!! I'm so close!

I need to leave for work in about 90 minutes, and I'm sitting here instead of taking a shower. I have plenty of time...for now. But we all know in 85 minutes I'll still be sitting here like, "shit shit shit, speed shower time!"
