The speed with which things get updated and replaced. Used to be you would by a couch, wear it out and replace it. Now it seems that people are changing their furniture as they do their clothes. And then there is technology. I'm only on my second mobile phone (after being nagged to get a smartphone by my son). People seem to change those every year or two. Everything is "fashionable" so it must be purchased or you will be out of date.
The world is making far too much rubbish.
I choose not to keep up with the Jones's, and think that charity shops are great. The British Heart Foundation have a massive shop dedicated to furniture. Fantastic place!
