Generally bad advice. Instead you should always "act interested, listen carefully, and fake approval". In the end no one wants to know what you really think. They only want to know what you can do for them.

Wasted a good chunk of my life and money trying desperately to get a degree in something I'm just not skilled in or enjoy, only to finally pursue my own goals in a field that, while not STEM, at least has good prospects for jobs and is unlikely to get automated.
