Corporate personhood, ubiquitous computing, handheld devices that basically do everything, social media, advanced prosthesis... we pretty much hit "cyberpunk" a few years ago! :)
I wrote the novel using best-guess and most-likely scenarios of the near future regarding stuff like automation, medical technology, augmented reality, AI-based apps, and 3D printing, as well as climate change, unemployment, and drone-surveillance, so a lot of it is pretty cyberpunk, though without the 80s aesthetic. Maybe closer to Strange Days than Blade Runner. Technoshock and cultureshock play big roles.
