How do you decide who you will tell that they have food stuck in their teeth?

Sometimes I don't say anything. Honestly I can't bring myself to tell some people the spinach/poppyseed/corn/Orange is stuck firmly in the front choppers. I talk to them with mixed feelings of amusement and revolt. Others I tell at the first sign of wayward food. Why? What makes you decide to tell or not tell?

Being someone who constantly gets things stuck in my gnashers, I make the evaluation of how tricky that food is to get out of there and if there's a good chance I tell them, if not I don't. I wish everyone would make that evaluation.....it's frustrating as hell to be told you have something in your teeth that you can't get out without using some makeshift floss (don't ask).

I gotta ask. Please expand on the floss comment! I'm born nosey.

things I have used as makeshift floss/toothpicks: a piece of thread pulled out of my clothes, a paperclip, a pushpin, staples, the end of a mental nail file and worst of all....several strands of my hair....I had no choice and I had a tiny fly stuck in my teeth (no joke - possibly the worst thing I've had stick in my teeth EVER).

I use the "golden rule". If I had some big piece of spinach flapping around my teeth I'd expect someone to tell me straight up. Except pull me to the side and tell me, don't blast it in front of everyone!

I like the quiet approach. Just can't do it with some people.

Pretty much in any situation, I'd want to know. There's nothing worse than realizing that you've had food in-between your teeth for a length of time, and no one told you. I always try be positive about it, and not embarrass them. I mean...we all have done it at some time or another. Either that, or at least something similar. It's not that big of deal.
