Machu Picchu!! I've never gotten to South America but it is high on the list.

Nepal is probable one of the best places I've visited. Trekking in the Himalayas was awe inspiring. The people were all friendly, the prices were cheap and the history is everywhere and humbling. This has been the only time I've had others carry the majority of my gear. I certainly was thankful for the porters in their flip flops and t-shirts carrying massive loads. They marched past us with our hiking boots as if we were standing still. We would show up at camp where tents had been erected and hot tea was ready. We were in good shape but the altitude and elevation gains would leave us exhausted as the porters smoked cigarettes, smiled and chuckled. At the end of the trek we all donated all our gear we could spare, tipped them heavily, they were only making a couple bucks a day, and bought them a goat for our final celebratory dinner.

How was the food in Nepal? I'm a big foodie, so I'm always interested in what people eat from different countries.

I really enjoyed the food. While trekking we had a big enough group that we were able to have a cook, with his kitchen on his back. As soon as we stopped he would visit the local village and get whatever was fresh and available. This was a while ago and I did not know my foods well then. Usually some fresh greens, always lentils and rice, and I discovered I like me some yak cheese. It was a treat on pizza. The goat at the end was a little tough but spiced well.

Once back in Kathmandu we found a traditional Nepalese restaurant that was very nice. It was a great reward after weeks eating at camps. There seemed to be never ending dishes being passed around the table and I ate far more than was necessary. It was similar to Indian, especially in some of the curries and spices. The dumplings and lamb were superb. I also enjoyed some of the side dishes of sauces, pickles and bread. All of it was good though I did not recognize most of what I was served and there was a language barrier.

I am realizing I have not tried Nepalese food since, though I eat a more Indian. I am off to google the nearest Nepalese restaurant. Thanks!

No problem! Haha and thank you for the reply. That's pretty cool, I have actually never looked up Nepalese recipes or what type of food they eat. Lamb is amazing though.
