What's the Big Deal About Android P?
Android P (no confection name yet) introduces an array of new features and tools that can help you use your smartphone less or at least be aware of how much screen time you're spending. The beta version of Android 9.0, released in May 2018 showcases many, but not all of the features demoed at Google's I/O 2018 conference. The updates make Android more straightforward to use and help you get to app settings without having to dig too deep. We gave the new features a spin, and can't wait to see what Google does next.

Google needs to learn from Amazon on how to build products for kids
It's easy to think of mobile and its associated gadgetry as a two-way race between Apple and Google. When it comes to all things flashy that tech writers and Twitter pundits like to make words about, iOS and Android (their respective ecosystems actually) rule the roost. But that's not quite accurate — companies like AT&Timewarner or NBComcast Universal or Verizonhoo! (sorry) are huge corporations with very deep pockets that have all played significant roles in shaping our tech landscape.

Tip: WhatsApp can re-download deleted media, hide it from your gallery
First, and this was pointed out by our tipster Nitin, is the fact that WhatsApp can re-download media that was deleted from the device's storage. I can't say how new (or old) this is. It's been years since I've deleted some WhatsApp media, but a friend did so several months ago and asked me how to get them back. The option wasn't there then. So the best I can guess is that it's relatively new-ish.

Wi-Fi Privacy Police - Apps on Google Play
Wi-Fi Privacy Police prevents your smartphone or tablet from leaking privacy sensitive information via Wi-Fi networks. It does this in two ways:* It prevents your smartphone from sending out the names of Wi-Fi networks it wants to connect to over the air. This makes sure that other people in your surroundings can not see the networks you've connecte to, and the places you've visited.* If your smartphone encounters an unknown access point with a known name (for example, a malicious access point pretending to be your home network), it asks whether you trust this access point before connecting. This makes sure that other people are not able to...

As the iPhone Gets 5 Years of Support, My Galaxy S9+ is Still Behind
Apple’s WWDC took place this week, not long after Google’s I/O conference. Each company spent time announcing their planned new features as well as new APIs, new apps, and new ideas. It isn’t a stretch to say that both Android and iOS have become advanced operating systems with complete and competitive feature sets. I’ve been running Android P on my Google Pixel 2 XL, and love it or hate it, a lot has changed in small but key areas of the user experience.

Apple kills Valve's Steam Link iOS app, but you can still stream PC games to Android
Valve’s in-home streaming tech is proving to be its most forward-thinking development. First it helped kill off the company’s own short-lived Steam Machines, with the $50 Steam Link perfectly capable of putting PC gaming in your living room without the need for another high-end PC. And now it’s putting PC gaming...well, anywhere you’d like. But probably the bathroom, if I know people.
