Installing Linux on an Android Phone

TBH I'm not sure why anyone would want to do that. Typing command-line on a phone is slow and cumbersome, or if I want to use the GUI then I'd probably rather use the default Android since it's pretty well optimized for smartphones. I love Linux and use it a lot - I just wouldn't plan to use it on my phone.
I've installed Linux every time with the gui and never used the command line.
