A FedEx truck crossed a freeway and slammed head-on into a bus carrying students in Northern California, killing 10 people, authorities said Friday. The collision Thursday evening killed both drivers, five students and three chaperones, said Lt. Bill Carpenter with the California Highway Patrol. At least 34 people were taken to local hospitals, authorities said.

2 planes collide over northern San Francisco Bay
Two small planes heading home from a show collided over the northern part of San Francisco Bay on Sunday, leading searchers to comb the water for a pilot after only one of the aircraft landed safely, authorities said. Debris was found in San Pablo Bay after the 4:05 p.m. collision near the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge, but there were no signs of the downed pilot, Coast Guard Petty Officer Loumania Stewart said.

Truck smashes into overpass
Video taken on Long Island, NY. Trucks here are not supposed to drive on the parkways, due to low overpasses. Earlier today, as I was driving, I saw a tractor trailer driving down the parkway in the right lane. I knew that something was about to happen, and I immediately started recording. Soon after I started recording, the truck struck an overpass, and was obliterated. I pulled over to make sure the driver was okay. He was fine, but clearly upset.

This holidaymaker got the shock of his life as he soaked up rays on a beach in Heligoland, an island in northern Germany.Pilot Juergen Drucker, 52, came within inches of colliding with the man as he flew his Piper PA-28-181 Archer II along the coast. Seconds after passing over the man the plane hit a fence and then ploughed across a section of the beach before coming to rest on the runway.

A newlywed husband and wife are both dead after they crashed into each other head-on in North Texas Wednesday morning. Nicolas Cruz, 31, and Kristina Munoz, 26, were alone in their respective vehicles when they collided, the AP reports. A man and his mother have suffocated after trying to fish a mobile phone out of an open pit toilet and falling in. The South China Morning Post reports that an unnamed woman in Xinxiang City, China, dropped her phone, worth about $320, into the open pit toilet. Her husband tried to find it but was overcome by the stench, lost consciousness and fell in. His mother then dove in after her son but she also fainted.

A 66-year-old woman described by police as an apparent hoarder was found dead under a pile of debris after the first floor of her Connecticut home collapsed into the basement under the weight of all the clutter, authorities said.Police in Cheshire identified the woman as Beverly Mitchell. Her body was found in her home Saturday, two days after a postal carrier called police to request a welfare check because her mail had been piling up for at least a week.
