I think this is the unfortunate nature of a lot of religion in the United States. Really the developed world. Whenever I talk with people about religion they really don't seem to understand it. And that goes for the religious people themselves as well; it's a symptom of apathetic belief that religion is believed to be inconsequential, especially among the youth.
