People make a lot of hay about "both parties are the same" but there are still some very stark differences in their behavior as well as rhetoric. While both parties are unacceptably influenced by corporate money, one party has consistently pushed for consumer protections, employee rights, health care reform, civil rights, gender equality, industry regulation and environmental reform. The other party has consistently opposed all these things. Can you really tell me we would have had health care reform under President McCain or marriage equality under President Romney?
Those are good reasons to scold the Democratic Party and push them for reform, preferably by supporting progressive candidates. It is not an excuse to dismiss both parties as "the same." They have similar faults, but still dissimilar behavior. We can't give up just because we're not always getting what we want, we just have to work harder to hold them accountable for what they're doing wrong. That's why I'm doing my best to support Bernie and even if he doesn't get the nomination help him push Hillary in the right direction.
