I find it highly ironic that the state with the harshest anti-abortion legislation is also the state with the highest number of executions per year. These people aren't pro life, otherwise they'd abolish the death penalty, instate gun control measures, and dramatically increase social service spending to be sure that all lives are protected.
I don't know if I'd characterize it that way. They simply don't want women to have a choice in whether or not they give birth. They expect a woman to raise a child, but won't trust them with a choice.

Hence why I've become a massive fan of the term "pro-birth".
Another way of phrasing this that I've found to be accurate would be "forced birth."
