Scientology Group Urged Veto of Mental Health Bill, by Morgan Smith
In his veto statement, Abbott echoed concerns noted in the coalition’s letter, saying he objected to the bill because it raised “serious constitutional concerns” and that medical facilities already had options to protect the mentally ill and the public.

Governor Abbott Vetoes SB 359
Pursuant to Article IV, Section 14, of the Texas Constitution, I, Greg Abbott, Governor of Texas, do hereby disapprove of and veto Senate Bill No. 359 as passed by the Eighty-Fourth Texas Legislature, Regular Session, because of the following objections: -

Improving mental health resources in Texas is a top priority for the 84th Legislature as it crosses the halfway point. And it is on track to do so by not just by spending more, but spending more wisely. -
