On Immigration, Bernie Sanders is Correct
The reality is that what Sanders supports on immigration is careful and nuanced, and it’s the correct path forward for American immigration policy. In a nutshell, Sanders is strongly in favor of legalization and citizenship for the current unauthorized immigrant population, which will raise wages and lift labor standards for all workers, and he’s against expanding U.S. temporary foreign worker programs, which allow employers to exploit and underpay so-called guestworkers.

What right-wing people in this country would love is an open-border policy. Bring in all kinds of people, work for $2 or $3 an hour, that would be great for them. I don't believe in that. I think we have to raise wages in this country, I think we have to do everything we can to create millions...

Well, they are here now, have been here for many, many years. They are part of American society whether they are recognized or not. Ignoring them does not make them not be there. You can't round a part of society up and kick them out, and besides, it is the part of the fabric now, intertwined. We've seen how that turns out through history. Bernie has a format that can be worked with.
