That's not Jesus, that's Matthew McConaughey...
Wooderson as the Son of God? Now that's a religion I could get behind. "Amen, amen, amen."
Matthew McConaughey? I could totally see that.
Mathew McConaughey is Jesus!
Things get started like this...I know, I saw Life of Brian.
Apparently the only thing historians agree on about him is that he existed. And he was likely born in Nazareth and not Bethlehem. But beyond that there is not much, if any, agreement.
When you look at the justification for historical agreement on the existence of Jesus it's based on religious preconceptions. Closer scrutiny calls that into question. Likewise the city of Nazareth; there's some question on whether or not it was built before the second century.
But I saw it on the History Channel and they only do hard science! :)
JK, I have not done any research into it other than watching one hour of a PBS show with historians and not religious people and some googling around during it.
Dr. Carrier has been doing serious research on the topic. If you're interested he's getting a lot of attention.
Thanks for the referral but I tend to not pay much attention to atheist activists. Or activists in general really. Too much passion and not enough rationality for my likes. He is both an outlier and a truther. That is his gig.
As you wish. He may be passionate, but he's successfully defended his work well enough that the historical community is paying attention.
