My first install was Mandrake. Likewise, it was hella easy, especially after eight years of installing Windows professionally. It also introduced me to KDE which research suggested to me would allow for an easier transition from a Windows environment. I'm still not a huge fan of Gnome, but these days I go for minimalist desktops anyway and will usually install Flux.

I never tried that one. KDE 3. whatever was on Linspire as well. I had no idea you could do so many cool things with KDE! It was astounding! It even had 3d buttons, which the developers buried really deep in options, but I found them..And then the virtual desktops..It just went on and on! Karmak was my theme, and I changed the colors on it 4 times a year. Karmak is my theme on Manjaro too. I liked Gnome till the developers decided to remove all the best bits...I'm now using UbuntuMATE on this computer and Manjaro with the XFCE desktop on the Revo.
