Since when has American politics been about intelligence? If voters were intelligent they would choose a different government system.
Say what you will, Congress is a hell of an idea.
Emphasis in "hell".
It's probably not Hell if you're in it. I understand they have a very good cafeteria, a solid health and benefits plan, plus all the graft and insider trading one can wheedle.
Still, it's probably better than waiting for the revolution to come, setting up roadblocks and separating people into those that live and those that die. Think of Congress as a people's grand jury with subpoena power. You know, when it's not s̷h̷a̷k̷i̷n̷g̷ ̷d̷o̷w̷n̷ ̷v̷i̷c̷t̷i̷m̷s̷ fundraising.
You would prefer a parliamentary system with every right, when it can be widely agreed, to send sternly worded invitations to witnesses and subjects of inquiry?
I would prefer getting rid of all lawyers, bankers, bureaucrats and politicians, and then let the people who actually do something useful for society take care of things. But humans are too dumb and selfish for that :/
Then do I ever have a candidate for you! Folks that know where Chairman Mao's Cultural Revolution went wrong was in not looking beyond humanity itself to what, and who, comes next.
That's awesome. Saved :)
