I'm going to be spending my weekend swimming in the Pacific Master's Championship swim meet. Unfortunately I have to leave really early in the morning to make it there, (it's in San Jose, CA) but I'm really looking forward to it. I'm on my university's swim team and I really miss meets during the summer, plus we never swim long course, so it's fun to see those times.

Dealing pot.

Sophomore year of college I got really into smoking with my room mate and we somehow got it into our minds that it would be a good idea to cut out the middle man and start selling weed ourselves. It turns out that with the right connections it's really not hard to get weed shipped cross country and really easy to sell it to college kids. Unfortunately we got ahead of ourselves and my room mate ended up getting caught and expelled in what was without a doubt one of the worst days of my life. Luckily he's doing fine and enrolled in college back home (where pot is legal funnily enough), but it makes me sad every time I think about how much fun we used to have together.

I tried to just play this game in the background while I was working and it's actually pretty intense, I found that all my cats would die unless I was managing very directly. That said it was a lot of fun once I got home and could focus on it.

The last few times I've gone through airport security I haven't even taken out my liquids and have yet to get pulled aside or even have it mentioned. I think that TSA agents don't really care what you bring on so long as it doesn't look like a weapon.

All of those watch-to-watch features just seem so gimmicky, I really can't see a large number of people ever using them.

On the other hand, interactive watch faces have a lot of potential, even though they already exist. I use Pujie Black's calendar function regularly and it works well.

This it totally off-topic, but maybe like 5% of the information on that page is the article, it's a five paragraph article buried somewhere in a mess of ads and links to other articles, with an image thing in the middle that has nothing to do with the article at all.

But on topic it's interesting to see facebook try and compete with Yelp and TripAdvisor, although I've never found facebook restaurant pages to be as useful or well laid out as other services.

I think it's important to note that the title may be a little misleading, it was a dealer doing the demonstration, and they may have simply been confused. The article states that: "Volvo believes the dealer in question was trying to demonstrate theXC60’s pedestrian detection feature, an optional $3,000 upgrade which this particular model may have lacked."

If anything I think this speaks to the idea that humans are often the weakest link in the technology we use.

Power Point presentations (and all slideshows) are tools, nothing more, and their usefulness is limited to the user's ability to present.

This article, as entertaining as it is, simply writes them off completely, which simply isn't fair. I believe that everyone should be better trained in giving presentations, but writing off a tool as worthless isn't the right approach in my opinion.

Also, the slide where it talks about what would happen if power point presentations were banned from the defense department is pretty laughable, the claims they make are unsubstantiated, and in my views false.
