When should we change our environment and when should we change ourselves? It's not always an easy question to answer. Gene therapy is very exciting and terrifying, or that's what I think of it anyway. I guess all technology is kind of like that, you know? These are interesting times for sure!

Anyway, thanks for the article and conversation. I hope you're doing well. :)

Well thats the problem with "environments", usually they are large, complex and extremely difficult to control - especially if they are constantly changing and based on a number of different variables, ie. weather, politics, living conditions, status. I guess at one point it becomes easier (of course with advanced technology) to edit ones genes to avoid and hopefully be immune to those effects. Hell yeah, I too am terrified of what technology can do especially in the wrong hands, but I am hopeful that we as a collective intelligence will figure out a way to manage these dangers. Great chatting with you too!

Yep, I hear you about environments. It is easier to put on slippers than it is to carpet the entire world, ha! I just worry about, as you said, what technology can do in the wrong hands. The people who are suffering most aren't generally the people making the decisions. I worry about a situation where everyone not at the top is expected to change themselves in support of the status quo. You know, like, “You’re poor and your life is shit because of how the system is set up? Shut up and submit to this treatment so you won't care about that anymore!” I'm glad you're hopeful about our collective intelligence. I can get a bit cynical. Maybe I should stop reading dystopian sci-fi, lol! ;)

Thanks for taking the time to respond /u/drunkenninja, and thanks for all the awesome content you add to the site in general!
