For an average, too-lazy-for-makeup work day, I use Clump Crusher (yeah, I know) because it's difficult for me to screw up even when I'm half asleep. It's kind of flaky, not the worst I've used, but it's also not that visible/dramatic. I recently got MAC Prep+Prime to go with MAC Extended Play Gigablack Lash and I like the combination for staying power/lack of flakiness, but it clumps up super easily on me. As well, my eyelashes point down, so I curl them aggressively only to find that MAC Gigablack seems to diminish the curl a bit, which is a bummer.
All that said, I think I have pretty crappy eyelashes in general (somewhat sparse plus the whole pointing-down thing) so I'm not sure it's possible for mascara to fix all my gripes.
This might be obvious, but do you use waterproof mascara? That's the only way I can get my lashes to stay curled for any length of time. My go-tos are Maybelline Lash Stiletto, Loreal Voluminous Millions, and Maybelline Falsies. (Also Japanese mascaras are great options if you don't mind buying online)
Any particularly recs for Japanese mascaras? I do generally buy waterproof versions of whatever I get if I can, I think the problem is more my wonky eyelashes than anything.
I love L'Oreal Voluminous Millions, too (the waterproof version). My makeup industry experts all tell me that mascara formula is pretty much the same across the board and the big difference is the brush size/style.
