6 years ago+9 9 0Hints/tips for i3?
Heya,
I just started using i3, and was hoping to see if anyone had any hints/tips for how I can make the best use out of it? I'm quite happy with the standard set-up, it's super fast and really works with what I want to do, but was quite annoyed at having to figure things out like easier wifi-connecting, figuring out volume, and figuring out brightness.

I was thinking of three levels of reporting that I'd like to see:
- Report, in general, which will be shown to tribe chief, moderators, and I guess the admins can look into those reports as well.
- Report only to tribe chief: this can be useful if a user wants to report something that they either think is too sensitive to share with multiple mods, in some cases, or if one of the mods is misbehaving in a tribe or something I guess.
- Report to admins: useful for reporting chief/mod misbehaviour, or if there's something illegal or whatever, that requires immediate higher-up attention. Also useful I suppose for mods/chiefs to be able to report things.

6 years ago+10 10 0I need a soda scientist: does the surface area at the top of a glass influence how fast it goes flat?
I had a wine glass in my hand, and put soda in it. Which got me thinking: you put wine in wine glasses so that it can aerate better and taste better (apparently - imo wine in mugs is superior for many reasons). But will this increased surface area at the top influence how fast the bubbling process makes my soda go flat? Or is it more a factor of the volume of soda I put in, regardless of the shape of glass?

This doesn't work so well for news, or current events in whatever form (analysis or w/e); but there's quite some content that wouldn't necessarily need to be posted right now. But I might have time just now, and not later. Hence my suggestion: ready everything up for a snap, or discussion post, and have it automatically posted at a later point in time. Could help with some tribes too, to automate posting of recurring discussions (e.g. post-episode discussions, or if sportsy events are at set points in time). Or it could just be helpful if you've got a few things to post, but don't want to flood a tribe all at once.

6 years ago+10 10 0Browser extension: A way to see discussion directly on sites, instead of having to search for the article on snapzu?
I saw this thread on HN and realised that there's already a community here, and this way you could see discussion that happened on snapzu instead of having to look for it, which is always slightly cumbersome and has a much higher threshold than just clicking on a plugin. A browser plugin with a sidebar or something might work. Alternatively, if there's no discussion, an option to redirect to submit, or directly in the plugin so that you might be able to browse the article/whatever to pull info out of while putting your snap together.

6 years ago+5 5 0Deduplication: suggest posting things as related links instead of new snaps?
This might be a lot of work, but I saw this situation on the front page and was wondering if there'd be any way (looking at keywords, for example?) to deduplicate snaps like this, especially since they were both posted to the same 3 tribes.
