Hard to say exactly... its a number of little things that come together and make it great..
I use this religiously!
that's pretty cool, actually. I think I looked at that when I first joined, but haven't for a while.
I most enjoy the things I learn from all the various cool things that people post. I feel smarter overall and it makes for a lot of great conversation starters.
I feel the same way.
My favorite is the ability to spruce up my posts with more than just text or images. There's video embeds, lists, galleries and most importantly related links.
I love the related links feature. It's a great tool to expand on a topic in an organized manner.

The basic premise, yes. But once you dig around you will notice a LOT of differences.

Much better usability and less clutter than "the front page of the internet".
I love the interface the most: it's nice and sleek, the magazine view is great, the image and video embeds are awesome, the fact that you can add a source to them is even better, the ability to submit a thread to multiple tribes is great, etc.
