Lake Bled, Slovenia
"I was waiting eagerly for the first cold winter morning after the snowy day. Finally the conditions were just as I wanted them to be. Still lake, beautiful pink/purple morning tones, snow on the trees and some fog for mystic atmosphere." Photograph by Aleš Krivec.

Smuggler's Notch
I arrived early in the morning to the walkway by Smuggler's Notch to find the whole area engulfed by a void of fog. I was exploring around and shooting some reflections of the trees in a nearby pond when I suddenly noticed the fog was slowly receding, revealing the amazingly colorful foliage on the hills. It was a pretty magical start to my week-long photography stay-cation in Vermont.

The colors of Jupiter being monitored go beyond the normal human visual range to include both ultraviolet and infrared light.

Life
Syrian refugee girl Amna Zughayar, 9, from Deir el-Zour, Syria, poses for a picture at an informal tented settlement near the Syrian border on the outskirts of Mafraq, Jordan. About half of the 4.8 million Syrians who fled their homeland are children, and some of the most vulnerable live in dozens of makeshift tent camps. Jordan has taken in close to 640,000 refugees. Children in these camps near the northern city of Mafraq say they miss their old lives in Syria, especially going to school.

Stone house in Portugal
While on a trip to Portugal, Daria Chuvaeva “heard from a local barman about an unusual stone house located in the Fafe Mountains,” she says. Chuvaeva decided to journey to the offbeat dwelling, known as the Casa do Penedo, and this image is the result of her effort. “Even if I got lost a few times, I can say that it was definitely worth it,” she writes. “There was something mysterious in that boulder house, and I took photos of it for a few hours.”
