As long as there is Islam, there will be Islamic terrorism. Abrahamic religions were created to conquer and control, not to be peaceful and charitable. If you think otherwise, read their religious books, and go ask their priests how it makes sense to build expensive luxurious churches with money that could help enormously to save the lives of poor children.

Religion is the single biggest obstacle to the progress of humankind. Nothing else comes even close. Without religion, we'd be centuries ahead.

Well, of course! The fault is not on big pharma and their bribing of doctors to push opioids to the public. They were just doing what they were meant to do, make a profit regardless of how many lives it costs. The real fault is obviously on the idiots who got prescribed the drugs and got addicted to them. The moral failure is on the patients, not the pharma companies!

If you're going to do this sort of thing Singapore is very much not the place you should. There's a reason they have a low crime rate despite some of the highest population density on the planet.

The bribes, plus the fine they'll get (if at all) are probably a tiny fraction of he earnings, so from their perspective this is a big win. All that matters is profit.

Meanwhile, we're busy talking about building walls and arguing about which toilet stall people should use. Guess which country is better prepared for the future.

That's what I keep repeating, division breeds autocrats and war. I did not see the start of WWII, but I lived the start of the Venezuelan disaster, and it all looks exactly the same. It's like people just don't get it. As long as we keep arguing with each other, the shadow of dictatorship and war keeps growing.

While popular, I can't recommend this Microsoft-created protocol.

That applies to pretty much anything created by Microsoft.

Every single physical variable you can measure about our planet produces an urgent warning, but guess what? We're going to ignore them because we're way too busy thinking about money. Nothing is more urgent or important.

I keep saying this, and I know it's probably a waste of time, but I'm hoping this country is not yet completely gone down the drain: if we keep calling each other Nazis and libtards, we're looking forward to increasingly authoritarian governments, more government corruption (yes, it is possible), and more getting screwed by the rich people pulling the strings. Remember, the banks and the billionaires don't give a shit about the US, they only care about themselves and their money, and they can take that money wherever they want to.

As much as you disagree with the other side's point of view, everyone has reasons for what they believe, and you gain nothing by dismissing those reasons and assuming they're just stupid. Whether you like it or not, you share a country and your fates are linked.

This is not about youtube. It's about polarization. We've gotten to a point where there are two factions at the extremes of the political spectrum, and they will automatically take anything the other side says as absurd and outrageous, without bothering to listen.

The point is, as long as people don't listen to each other, nothing is going to be solved. You're just going to let the billionaires cash in until the country starts going to hell, and then they'll leave and let you destroy yourselves. As much as you hate to hear the opposing points of view, the reality is that there is some truth in both positions, and dialogue and acceptance are the only way to turn this process around. Trust me, I've seen this before, and I've read a lot about it since I had to flee my home country because of it. It happens the same way almost everywhere.

#22: Americans don't like coffee, because American coffee is comparable to the water where you washed your socks. That's why you need to make it almond vanilla latte pumpkin spice and put enough sugar to give all of Africa diabetes in it. So you don't taste how shitty it is.

I have a single solution to all these problems. When corporations do something illegal, give them a fine as a percentage of their net worth (at least 5%). You'll see all the unethical behavior magically disappear.

Of course, for that we'd need our corporation-owned government to do it, so not gonna happen.

The prison industrial system is the modern, more effective version of slavery. The government hides the slaves from sight while proclaiming to help equality with moronic, ineffective policies. That way everyone feels good about themselves for helping diversity while the prison corps cash in on the slave labor.

Ascaris are my favorite crazy parasites. They multiply really fast until you body is completely filled with worms. When you sleep they come out of your nose or mouth for a walk on your face and then get back in. Fun stuff. Plus you can have them and have no idea about it.

Yup. If you want to be convinced go to Google Images and search for "ascaris worms". Do not do it while eating.

The difference between autotune and an instrument like a guitar is that autotune, by design, enables people with no talent to sound like they sort of know how to sing. If you don't know how to play a guitar and pick one up, no matter how electric or fancy it is, it will be obvious that you don't know what you're doing.

Autotune has enabled more mediocre "artists" to reach mainstream popularity than anything else I can think of.

All this work, and most likely, if anything, Verizon will get hit with a "record breaking" fine of 0.0001% of their yearly revenue.
