There's the thing, there are no laws, regulations or whatever else you want to call them outside of maybe price gouging that they violated, the US isn't regulating drug or drug delivery system prices, that's why Tylenol at a hospital costs 400 a pill. Their only competitor suffered a recall and now they are no longer available, meaning EpiPen can raise prices and nobody can do anything.... truth is you can buy the drug and inject it on your own for cheap, they are charging for their need delivery system, it's just not convenient or easy injecting yourself with real needles.
When Mylan acquired the EpiPen, the drug didn't turn much of a profit. Then, the company hit on a massively successful marketing campaign that used fear of child allergies to sell more EpiPens. The company's revenue from EpiPens is now over $1 billion, compared to $200 million in 2007.
Since then, the price of EpiPens has risen more than 400 percent. The outrageous price hike is being compared to the hike to HIV drugs instituted by the infamous "pharma bro" Martin Shkreli.
