    As long as they kept communism out of reach, it didn't matter what they did.

    The regime called anyone they wanted communists. "[F]rom union members and women’s rights activists to teachers and the ethnic Chinese." They still are. Personally, I don't see any reason to indulge that murderous lie, whether on the part of Suharto or the U.S.

    Or to concoct an apologia for it.
