The fact that the US is almost always responsible and having to be the world's police is why we're hated so much in the first place.

I wonder if there's any other plausible explanation. You know, besides how steadfastly responsible and generous with our protection we Americans are.

America like many other western countries during the Cold War was sponsoring capitalism during the cold war in the name of democracy to allow a free global market. As long as they kept communism out of reach, it didn't matter what they did.

By which you mean mass murder.

As long as they kept communism out of reach, it didn't matter what they did.

The regime called anyone they wanted communists. "[F]rom union members and women’s rights activists to teachers and the ethnic Chinese." They still are. Personally, I don't see any reason to indulge that murderous lie, whether on the part of Suharto or the U.S.

Or to concoct an apologia for it.

US not only knew about it, US orchestrated it behind the Islamists. The US supported Suhartho until he was deposed in 90s.
