    I'd love to read the actual study to see if they even controlled for which side of the brain the cancers were in vs which side the phone was predominately held. Since they didn't control for other (higher power) radiation sources or other environmental sources, I'm betting not.

    It might be just as valid to say that this study shows brain cancer causes cell phones.

      3 watts is actually quite a lot right against your head. As for the non-ionizing part, there are so many other ways the body and cells absorb energy. I simply don't think you can say "isn't going to cause cancer", since we know very little about how cancer is formed. After all, microwaves are non-ionizing and they can cook you, by being absorbed by the water in your cells.

      Cordless phones are a red herring because they put out a lot less power than cell phones.

        Microwaves can cook you, yes. At high power. Defeating the interlock and sticking your head in would be a bad idea, but you are looking at 800 watts to 1.5 Kilowatts, and at a much higher frequency (2.4GHz). Frequency matters as well as power.

        3 watts at 800Mhz isn't going to penetrate the skin, let alone the underlying muscle and bone, to affect your brain.

        Edit: Here's how to tell it's NOT penetrating the skin. Your ear would get warm when you used your cell phone. Doesn't happen.

          Microwaves cook because water absorbs the energy, because water resonates at the frequency of microwaves. All sorts of molecules in the body resonate at different frequencies. Just because the nerves in your ear don't register warmth doesn't mean that other molecules in your body aren't absorbing energy. The body has few sensory nerves below the skin anyway.

          The amount of energy is much smaller, yes, but it is also quite concentrated. I'm not saying there is an effect, I just don't know, but it is possible and it is definitely worth studying.
