At 3 AM if someone in plainclothes approached me on the side of the road, I'd have a weapon handy too! The fact that I could be shot dead for being ready to defend myself against a stranger is ridiculous. Also the fact that they refuse to state what "weapon" he was carrying makes me think it was a flashlight or some other they're too afraid to admit to mistaking and using lethal force.
I wonder what we will learn about the encounter. It will obviously be a one sided account.
There is a big difference between an officer in uniform with lights and an unmarked car/officer.
