The books (up to around 10) were amazing, and the film, while good, needed something "different", or just another go at them. I'm really hoping this is great, because they were some of my favourite books as a kid.
I got bored (maybe grew out of them?) around book 10, hence the "up to around 10" ;)
It's not really a surprise. I feel the books were targeted around age 8-12, and I was around 8 or 9 when The Bad Beginning was released and I began to devour them
My son is 8, and I came here hoping to find the appropriate age group for the books. I'm assuming you felt they were a good and appropriate read for that age group?
I think, possibly grab the first and read it yourself to see what you think. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them, though. They're a great series of books.
