I loved the movie, but never got to read the books. I hope Netflix does something awesome with the series.
I think I need to re-watch the movie, I remember the acting being pretty good in it but not much else. I've got faith Netflix will rock it.
It's not a master piece, but it's still very enjoyable.
It should've been a series of films, really. It's been years since I read the books, but I still think they nailed the tone. This is looking reeeeally promising though.
I think that was always the greatest disappointment with the movies for me: they only really covered the first three books. In total there were actually 13. I'm glad someone picked this series up again, and I'm even happier that it's Netflix. I have no doubt that they'll at least make me like the show. The question is gonna be whether I love it.
Do the books have any re-read value to them? I haven't read them since there were released like 10 years ago. I feel like reading them now I would just knock them all out in a day...
Yeah, and what they did cover felt rushed. I haven't read any of the books in almost ten years, not sure if they'd still grab me like they did back then, but I'm excited for this series.
Haven't read the books in years, but I honestly can't wait to see how this turns out. Judging from the teaser it looks like they will at least have the slightly odd/creepy factor down.
I had no idea A Serious of Unfortunate Events was being adapted into a Netflix show. This looks fantastic! I really hope Netflix does it justice. The books were one of my favorites growing up and they still sit happily on my bookshelf.
The series will make a much better show than it did a movie.
The movie was... OK, but the books are so short that trying to cram three of them into a single movie just made it weird. It's a short, episodic book series so it should be great as a tv series.

Wow, that teaser looked awesome and definitely got me interested in the series again. I haven't read the books in a long time, but it definitely caught my eye. I'm really eager to see how this turns out.
The books (up to around 10) were amazing, and the film, while good, needed something "different", or just another go at them. I'm really hoping this is great, because they were some of my favourite books as a kid.

I got bored (maybe grew out of them?) around book 10, hence the "up to around 10" ;)
It's not really a surprise. I feel the books were targeted around age 8-12, and I was around 8 or 9 when The Bad Beginning was released and I began to devour them
My son is 8, and I came here hoping to find the appropriate age group for the books. I'm assuming you felt they were a good and appropriate read for that age group?
I think, possibly grab the first and read it yourself to see what you think. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them, though. They're a great series of books.

I really enjoyed the stylistic choices in this so far, especially with things like the "How to start fires" book, etc. I'll keep an eye out for this when it hits for sure!
I can still remember reading the series of books years ago and how I loved it. I'm really hoping that Netflix will do well with the series, I've been looking forward to it for a while.

I loved reading these books as well when I was younger. The movie wasn't amazing but I still enjoyed it. With all the amazing content Netflix has put out recently I'm super excited to see how they will handle this :]
So I just found out this is fake. It's just a really well made fan trailer. I have to say, it's pretty well done. I thought it was real.

Absolutely a brilliant series of stories
I wanted to get into these books for so long but my dad was super strict Christian at the time so he basically put the kibash on that. I hope this at least gets Netflix to consider a series based on the books!
I need this especially since that song is stuck in my head.
