I say it pretty much every election that I'm up and out by 0700 or dragging myself to the polls after work. I'd be more than happy to toss away one of the 'lesser' Federal holidays (Columbus Day? Really?) and replace it with a Federal voting day instead.
I agree but I have to take PTO for my holidays anyway so the only way they would be able to do mine is up my accrual rate.
Worked at a place that implemented PTO. Always felt like a pain in the ass to keep track of the time. Worked for another French company that dumped all of your offtime on the anniversary of your hire. That was sorta nice. Made you responsible for keeping track of it. At another company they counted vacation time and sick time interchangeably. Was seldom sick, so I enjoyed longer vacations as a result.
Yeah it's all in one but you have to work to get it and then take off for all holidays even if the office is closed and you can't come in. I would much rather have them all in a lump sum.
I agree with the dude. Why the hell not make one of the most important days every 4 years a day where people can have a day off to do their civic duty.
Who wouldn't support another day off? Sign me up.
If we can take Memorial Day off to remember those who fought and died for this country, then the least we can do is take a day off to fully exercise the rights for which they fought.
