Some even brought military-style assault rifles into businesses as part of their demonstrations

I can pretty much guarantee that no one brought a select-fire rifle into anyone's business. Surely the author meant the much fuzzier "assault weapon", which is defined as anything that looks scary.

I'm not generally surprised at all. I'm an open carry proponent, but the various groups wandering around with AR and AK Pattern rifles, and going out of their way to shove it in everybodies faces? Not doing anybody any favours, and generally just making it harder on everybody.

They've got some say as to how business is conducted on their own property, and people have more say in whom they do business with. Still, how corporations get to interfere with our basic rights is going to be one of those major arguments to be had over the next decade. I'm not surprised by the legal pushback. Disappointed, but not surprised.
