Isn't this the definition of Capitalism though? Be scrappy when you must, but once you made it, your goal is to keep your advantage for as long as possible and destroy those who may threaten. Just look at the fossil fuel industry in the last 60 years and what they did to alternative fuels that were cleaner, more efficient and cheaper. Fuck it, once you're on top, just play whack a mole, and if something comes out that gives you 10 mallets instead of 1, why argue? Obviously for PR purposes they need to save face, but their intentions are made clear by their almost non-existent reactions to all of this.
