This article seems to focus on women and diversity hires leaving the company. Are they implying that Reddit is racist or sexist because of that? Seems a bit of a stretch. Reddit seems to be a victim of its own success. What makes these sites fun and awesome is their newness, novelty and community. But once the community becomes everyone, it no longer feels special. Some of the old guard becomes territorial, while the noobs run amok testing their limits. Just like any message board, the trolls drive away the nice people and remain because they are the loudest and they get the most attention. I don't think there's any formula to eliminate this. Although anonymous avatars probably doesn't help.
