Too late. Your data has already been scraped, sold, and probably stolen, multiple times. You may delete it from FB, but it's all still out there. The internet never forgets.
Nothing new for Facebook. Since Zuckerberg, the kid who was lucky his website took off doesn't care much for our privacy, just about how much money he can make out of us, he keeps showing us how little he gives a damn about their users. But one thing is for sure, he knows that they keep coming back even after big scandals like this one.
Maybe the combination of a decreasing "cool factor" as the user base ages and advertisers jumping ship will reform the platform (unlikely) or make it irrelevant.
True that
Agreed. That said, I don't believe in making it easier for that data to be harvested. If I had a Facebook account, I would delete and use the delete tools - it won't get rid of information, but it will make things at least a little harder for scrapers to get. It won't have any effect on previously harvested data, but I always believe in making it harder for scrapers to get new data, even if I'm not able to make it impossible for them.
Yeah, damage control is always a good idea.
