I don't see any sites "beat"ing youtube by any stretch. Sure, there's room for other video hosts out there, especially those who're providing original content, but youtube has become such a catch-all for everything from music to full TV shows/ movies to the short clips that started it all. There's just way too much content already available to ignore.
You're right, youtube is literally too big to fail when it comes to the video space. Unless they really screw it up themselves, no other company really has a chance to "become the next youtube".
