Meat tax: why taxing sausages and bacon could save hundreds of thousands of lives every year
By now you’ve probably heard that eating too much red and processed meat is bad for you. Not only is it associated with increased rates of coronary heart disease, stroke, and type 2 diabetes, but there is also convincing evidence that red and processed meat can cause cancer. The cancer agency of the World Health Organisation (WHO) classifies the consumption of red meat, which includes beef, lamb, and pork, as carcinogenic – or having the potential to cause cancer if eaten in processed form.

No, no, no! Encourage people to take exercise, create incentives, i.e. reduced or subsidise health insurance for people who keep within weight limits or higher tariffs for those overweight or who smoke or have some other registered vice. Why should the whole country have to pay because some people eat too many/much sausages/bacon?
Remember how no one in NYC smokes because of the taxes?
Do we want a black market hot dog economy to spring up?
