Why does Samsung think you’d be willing to spend nearly $1,000 on a phone?
I’ve been looking at the $930 starting price for the new Samsung Galaxy Note 8, scratching my head in bewilderment, looking at that price again, and furrowing my brows. We don’t usually get many mainstream phones with a starting price north of $900 ($960 if you opt for Verizon or AT&T, and even worse in the UK thanks to the pound’s Brexit-induced weakness), and I find myself wondering about the market dynamics nudging the flagship price tiers up.

The $1000 dollar smart phone idea is alive and well, and sadly, just like ridiculously over priced laptops selling without issues, I don't see this trend being anything different. There will always be that group of people that want the very best from a product line, and these phones are for them. Just look at apple and their upcoming $1000 iphone 8.
I think I saw the new Samsung is $1300 here in Canada. I'm sure people will buy it but the prices are getting a little out of hand now.
No kidding...Expect the price to double with the next edition.
I still have my LG G4 which I hope will last a little longer. There are a lot of really good phones for half the price of the Samsung but, honestly, even half the price is the top end of what I'd pay.
I've been reading about this, I'll never do it, I'd have to have won that 700mm lotto the other night to even entertain this price for a phone.
BGR, who I think is a group of apple apologists, says we need to get over it because this is called inflation and just the way things are. You don't have the money lease it like a car.
I like my little iPhone 5c, I picked it up for about 150, no lease, I will never buy another phone over the 150-200 mark because you can get good quality from Motorola for that price point, it won't be shiny and fancy with bells and whistles, but I'm not really using half the features on a phone as is.
