    While I hate that it happened, I'm pretty sure that she was aware of the rules whenever she decided to go this route.

    The manager allegedly said Walz was ineligible and suggested she instead apply for unpaid leave under the Family Medical Leave Act.

    This is correct. The FMLA should have covered it. It would have been unpaid leave, but her position would have been protected until she was able to go back to work.
