Commented in Dead Internet Theory: A.I. Killed the Internet
I understand your point and agree with it, but outside the known cancers of the internet (Facebook et al) there's a lot of content generated by AI: news articles, blog posts, imagery, video and audio. On one hand it is remarkable that it is possible to generate all that with AI, on the other hand, it takes away the human factor from the equation and thus makes it the internet also dead, in a way. A machine is not alive, how well it tries to imitate life and humanity.
Of course the internet will not die, humans are far too creative to find solutions to problems like this. Thing is, you'll get, again, a splitting of content. The first one was the divide between broadband (exclusive) content, with loads of video and audio and really complex programming and coding, and the "slow" internet. That happened when cable, DSL and fibre got introduced, they were/are far more expensive than slowband internet.
The divide what is happening now is between the AI generated content and the human/hand made content. For example, it is easy to recognise an article written in AI, read: LLM's, that have a superficial character to the texts generated. The quality of a good article, photo, video, audio is characterized by the human flaws or unexpected twists and turns that humanity describes or characterises.Let's just hope (and expect) that people keep on putting out their things on their own and enjoy the making of said content by themselves. Humans are notoriously lazy but also creative. Maybe that is the real divide?

What can I ask for? When you go in after installing, the mouse and print to be normal size rather than microscopic. I do not understand why all Linux distros do this now,it's so annoying.

Commented in Father organises heavy metal festival for his music-loving son Mason, who has cerebral palsy
Wow, what an incredible bond Richard and Mason share! Going to concerts together must truly be an unforgettable experience for them both. It's amazing how they've seen so many bands together, around 1,200! It's heartwarming to hear that despite Mason's cerebral palsy, he finds so much joy in these outings with his dad. Their shared love for music has undoubtedly strengthened their relationship and created lasting memories. This story is a beautiful reminder of the special connections between fathers and sons, especially as we celebrate National Sons Day.

Commented in Using a Commodore 64 on the modern internet!
Dearest Beloved.Greetings to you.
First of all let me introduce myself to you. I am Sister Anita Adams Johnson from Ivory Coast . I am married to late Chief Adams Johnson of blessed memory. My late husband was a produce marchant and contractor to the government on export of cocoa. We were married for eleven Years without a child, since his death I too have been battling with both cancer and fibroid problems.
Recently,I am in the hospital due to my critical health condition and my doctor told me that I would not last for few months and having known my condition I Decided to donate my late husband's funds(US$8.7Million) deposited with a leading Bank here to you so that you will Utilize this money for yourself and also for the Orphanages, widows and motherless organizations.
I will also issue an Order of authority to the bank, authorizing them that the said sum has been willed to you and a copy of such authorization will be forwarded to you. Any delay in your reply will give room in sourcing for another person / organization for this same purpose.
You may ask why I took this decision to transfer the fund to you??why can't I withdraw from the fund to take care of my health???
Until I hear from you today unfailingly,i will give you a detail information of the fund and get you
cleared of these rhetorical questions.
Yours sincerely,
Sister Anita Johnson. kindly contact me through sisteranitajohnson1@outlook.fr

Commented in ChatGPT pauses Bing integration to stop people from bypassing paywalls
So, AI is invented to use as a tool for being creative with, but as soon as people use it in a way that it reduces the amount of money companies can grab from consumers, it's over. Actually, using it in this way is a neat trick to get a more diverse market. Just fuck over the croonies with their own tools until they submit and recognize their place in society. There's more than just ChatGPT as AI tools to obtain, develope and use.

Commented in Giving kids no autonomy at all has become a parenting norm. The pandemic is making this worse
However, it is important to strike a balance between providing guidance and allowing autonomy. Parental involvement and support are crucial, especially during challenging times such as the pandemic. Finding ways to involve children in decision-making processes, considering their opinions, and gradually granting them age-appropriate responsibilities can help foster their development and resilience.
Children's National Day (https://www.thenewsinsides.com/blog/national-sons-day/) is an occasion dedicated to celebrating and acknowledging the importance of children. It serves as a reminder to grant children the autonomy and freedom to express themselves, make choices, and participate in decision-making within appropriate boundaries. Encouraging children's autonomy can promote their overall development, independence, and self-confidence.

Commented in This Danish Political Party Is Led by an AI
In a way this is very attractive, since an AI would see no use in retreiving bribes or other forms of corruption, unless it is programmed to do so. When the human representatives in the parliament would exactly follow the AI's ideas and policies, it could be trusted. But as with all computerprogrammes, this AI is depending on what the input is to form its' ideas and outcomes. The article states that the input is from all the fringe parties since 1970, which is probably a lot to digest, but could be interesting as experiment. Most and maybe all fringe parties have more practical ideas than the common parties and are better suited to fullfill the needs of the people, since they are more closely related to them.
On the other hand, the AI could start as a political experiment which closely relates to the people, but could get out of hand, since its' excistence can be secured when AI in general will be protected and seen as a sentient lifeform, a logical wish from the AI itself. How would the politicians and people handle such questions? I do not think a Turing test will suffice, since it is not just being seen as a lifeform that counts, but also a lifeform that represents other lifeforms, like humans. It takes a human to understand a human, I think.
I was surprised to see that there are other nations already experimenting with this and that there even is the idea to form an international corporation of AI's. In just one country it could have quite the impact when it succeeds, on all levels of society, but internationally I'm not sure how that would turn out. And what is a success, I would dare to ask. Is that in favour of some part of society, for instance the AI's creators or is it in favour for all of society? When those questions already arise when thinking about such an experiment on a national scale, what kind of impact would it have internationally? Just take in consideration the differences in culture, for instance, or the concept of nationalism? Those clashes are now already wrecking any idea of progress or even civilisation, with all the consequences that come from it. How would several AI's solve such things? And what if fringe parties from a few countries are on the hateful side of the spectrum and have a lot of influence on the workings of the AI?
I am curious to see how this works out, but I'll stay very reserved about the results of such experiments. It's easy to have dystopian thoughts about it, just as easy as it is to have utopian thoughts about it. One thing is for sure: that AI would have more personality than any of the nowadays politicians and it would be a determining factor of its' success.

Commented in Bitcoin Should Not Be Legal Tender in El Salvador: IMF
Why the fuck would they try to intervene in a sovereign country and their internal monetary affairs? Are they scared to lose influence and power? Seems like it, because a country that takes their destination into their own hands, which to me is a very valid thing to do, can't be bothered too much by the IMF and their shenanigans. Ask, for instance, the Greek people what happens if you let them do just that.

Commented in How the US created a world of endless war
It's a nice article, but more of an analysis of finding legal reasons to justify war and endless war by American presidents. It could have been an even way longer article when it focused also on the main reason of all that war mongering, killing and destruction: money and power. The main job suppliers in the USA are weapons manufacturers for the department of "defence" and that same department itself.
I don't think that the world needs a "military superpower" nor do I think that the world needs some sort of politically motivated policing. All it does is costing many lives and just fills the coffers of a very few people. Plus: people hate other people from around the world, without even taking notice of the fact that everybody's life is just as worthy or worthless (depends on who you ask) as anyone else's. I think American politics is the cause of so much misery around the world and looking at it right now, I don't think that will end very soon. Maybe when the dollar goes down to oblivion in "value", just maybe then will there be some sort of really peaceful period.
Until the next gang of morons stands up, of course.
Edit: I should nuance my comment with the terms "Western countries", NATO and lapdogs.

Commented in Bitcoin mixer owner pleads guilty to laundering over $300 million
Want to launder money effectively? Use the old banking system. The fining of Helix is about a period where exchanges weren't regulated yet and when there was no obligation to proof your identity before you started using them. Now there is and guess what? It's easier to track money with crypto than with fiat money, even better: thanks to years of creating laws in the advantage of launderers (and bankers) and thanks to big differences in laws per country, its' quite hard to track fiat currencies.
But then again: who would use an exchange to obtain and use crypto? Not the criminals, since they know that private (and hardware) wallets are way safer to do their business. And so do a lot of politicians and the people they make the rules avoidable for know.
It's not criminals they're after, it's the little man/woman, who just wants to use crypto to save/invest, because the "fiat bankers" are robbing them to the bone with "costs" and other tricks to undress their clientele to their skin, just to make more cash for themselves and their "shareholders" (who, in their turn, don't have to pay any taxes at all -> tax avoidance, anyone?). -
Commented in 7 Best Free WordPress Plugins For Business Websites
I think the GTranslate-plugin is also worth mentioning. I installed that last month on my site and it didn't really grow the number of visitors, but the time spent on my site grew significantly. People read more blog-posts and also the information-page was visited way more. :-) It's not perfect, I know, but now it is not just in Dutch, but also English, French and Spanish, without the cost of a translator. :-)
