Why did the world ignore Boko Haram's Baga attacks?
As media coverage focused on the Paris terror attacks last week, over 2000 Nigerians were reported to have been killed by Islamist militants. What makes one massacre more newsworthy than another?

It seems like there are a lot of headlines lately trying to make us feel bad for focusing on a recent horrible event. I'm not sure how I feel about the guilt trip. I mean, yes, Boko Haram is terrible, but it has made the news and continues to make headlines all the time. But it's an ongoing problem in an unstable part of the world instead of a single major event in an otherwise stable country, so it's no surprise there's been no unilateral response, since the problem or answer isn't simple. Otherwise, we'd have fixed Mexico and Afghanistan and saved the world twice over by now.
