    While this sounds like a very nice idea in theory for developing countries, it will definitely not fly in the US. There's this "pull yourself up by your own bootstraps" mentality that doesn't allow the for this safety net. Also, the US without a heavily funded military? Not in this century.

    Yeah, innovation and arts would soar through the roof without some people needing to do time consuming labor to meet basic necessities, but it would also stop employers from having their pick of the crop when it comes to employees. Now I'm just an average joe, but I doubt big companies who back politicians' costly campaign budgets and the funding of various things on various levels would want to see that change, let alone all the changes I didn't think of.
