How did he get this photo without being ripped to shreds?
Photoshop.
I like the pictures. The colors are really nice. However, the compositing is way off in a number of places and that's pretty distracting. Shadows not lining up correctly, highlighting from multiple suns, etc.
Or a camera that can zoom really far.
