Is it me, or do these vertu phones look kinda...ugly?
Really, it looks like a cheap entry-level Android phone, and if I'm reading the article right, their hardware isn't exactly up to date, either. No wonder my first thought when looking at this was "What's a Vertu?"
Yep, I wouldn't buy one even if they were in the same price point as the iphone or galaxy s series. The only reason why people want them is because they are a status symbol due to the ridiculous price of them.
This is the reasoning behind a LOT of name brand, expensive, and flashy consumer products. Gucci, Prada, and Hermes are all very good examples of this. All of these companies used to only produce high build quality products that were worth their price, and now they're largely mainstream companies that sell mid-tier handbags and clothes with poor construction because they're mass assembled.
Yeah, but even if I had the money, I feel I'd have to go around explaining to everyone " I know it doesn't look like much, but, see the signature? this is a Vertu, it's like ten times the price of an iphone! No, what? No! It's not a Chinese iPhone knock off, jesus. Philistines.".
