Reddit Bosses Are Doing Everything Wrong

"Reddit execs are discovering that when most of your workforce is unpaid, you can't treat them like employees." A great opinion piece by Sascha Segan that astutely defines the issues surrounding Reddit's problems over the past mo ...

    Reposts and publishing...questions!

Hi all, I wonder if you'd clarify some stuff with me? Perhaps my predicament is best expressed through listing the order of events that lead me to find the need to make this post.

    1. See this and think "I wonder if there's a tribe for deepdream yet, assuming this is going to be a bit of a thing for a while
    2. Find /t/deepdream - ok, cool
    3. Go back to post and look for a way to add /t/deepdream to the publish list...but nothin
    4. Ok, so just take the link and try to post it again...but I can't!
    5. Check the FAQs on reposting:

Q: What's the general rule with reposts? A: Snaps that share the exact same url need to be avoided. This can be accomplished by adding more than one tribe to the original post. If the OP of that post hasn't added the other tribe, ask them to edit and include it. Users can cross-post when submitting links (how many tribes at once depends on the OP's level). Content that is the same old thing, again and again, regardless of the url, isn't prohibited, just frowned upon. Don't think you can just post everything old as new again. The community will have seen it already and will pass on upvoting it.

to reiterate - I can't repost this image, it won't let me (somewhat contradicting the FAQ...) So, I find myself with no option to manually associate this gif with /t/deepdream, unless I reupload the file, which is a joke of an idea... so I can only kindly ask the owner of the original snap to add an extra publishing stream. This only seems moderately better than reuploading i.e. it feels like a hack to perform a natural task.

This seems to me like a pretty fundamental flaw and quite obstructive in the future of creating niche communities. It is not unthinkable that one news article hosted in one single place could not have significance to hundreds of different tribes; should it really be down to the first poster to ensure that all necessary tribes are selected? Should there not simply be a "add publishing stream" button, with the option of including title and description or making your own? Then perhaps as you go down the publish list on the right, you can see the alternative titles and descriptions by tribe?

Of course, I may have something wrong here. Please let me know if so!
