    I think it's dumb, but I wouldn't care. It's like comparing sparkling wine to champagne. Champagne is a sparkling wine, but it's made in Champagne, France. That's why it is called champagne. You can get good sparkling wine outside of Champagne. Same goes with specific types of whiskey (e.g., Bourbon, Scotch). The thing is, you can make a replica of Scotch, champagne, Parmesan, etc anywhere else in the world, and it can still be top quality. So call it "Parmesan-style American ripoff cheese product" for all I care. The quality of the product will sell it, not the name.
