    I don't see them mention water, is that part of the definition of earth like? Can they detect water, or is the lack of mention of water proof that there's no water there?

      From Discovery News: "If Kepler-452b is rocky, scientists expect it would be about five times more massive than Earth and twice Earth’s surface gravity. It would have a thicker, cloudier atmosphere and most likely active volcanoes, Jenkins added."

      If there are clouds (not determined), there is moisture. If there is moisture, there is water.

      And The Independent says "The planet has an atmosphere that could contain water and therefore extra-terrestrial life."
