    i'm sorry, but to me it always seemed much more of a commentary on not only her stodgy, stuck-up, conformist, government bureaucrat nature, not a personal statement on fashion. anything but. i think this article is just another example of people today attempting to co-opting yesterday's pop-culture for today's purposes while fundamentally misunderstanding the original message or intent.

    is it naiveté? is it ignorance? or it it just blind, selfish, determinism to make their dammed point, no matter what past pop-culture treasures are violated? sheesh.

    My favorite thing about X-Files was always how it inverted the gender narratives. Mulder and Scully are classic foils — the skeptic and the "believer" — but Scully is rational, where Mulder is the one who's stigmatized as crazy. That having been said, maybe it's the resurgence of 90s beauty and fashion trends, but I don't read her as deliberately fashion-ignorant? She's not INTO fashion but she's not TOTALLY dowdy
