oh man, what a neat question.
just last month, I was in Chicago when the Blackhawks won the Stanley Cup. it would've been a huge party if they had won in Tampa, but the fact they won in their home city brought things to a whole new level. it was amazing to walk around and celebrate with the city.
as a Torontonian, I know I'll never experience my home team winning the Cup at home in my life. so that made it special, haha. :(

communities like snapzu, unlike our governments, are in no way obligated to uphold free speech.

i love this style guide, and adhere to it almost completely. i'm curious to see if the community's attitude towards the 1.9 hash syntax (namely "When you've got keys that are not symbols stick to the hash rockets syntax") will change, given that we're able to use quoted keys with a trailing colon in 2.2.

more granular console SQL coloration looks pretty slick. I'd like to see different coloration for commit vs. rollback, but it sounds like cmtonkinson has that in the works.

here's one approach to organizing small/moderate amounts of—sometimes page-specific—javascript in a rails app.
another I've seen a lot of is Paul Irish's DOM-based routing script, which then got some treatment from Jason Garber and Niki Liu.
how do you tackle organizing javascript in your apps?

Organizing Javascript in Rails Application With Turbolinks
It’s impossible to escape Javascript in a Rails application. From a tiny script to a full-on Javascript framework, websites are becoming more and more reliant on Javascript, whether we like it or not.

from an invitee's perspective: after completing the registration process, I received a verification email that included a link I had to click to verify my account. I'd assume that's what what your invitees have yet to do.

I get where you're coming from, but I see two major problems:
first, there isn't really a finite dictionary of curse words. "fuck" is a no-brainer, but would "ass" be on the list of censored words?
second, never underestimate people's ability to be incredibly vulgar with words you'd hear in a children's program, even. it just takes the right combination.
because of the above issues, I don't see this being simple/elegant to implement.
